Piles, fissure & fistula

Proctology and ano-rectal care

Bleeding, pain, or swelling around the anus are common and can come from haemorrhoids (piles), a tear in the lining (fissure), or an abnormal tract (fistula). Other conditions can mimic these symptoms, so examination and sometimes endoscopy help confirm the diagnosis.

Initial care often includes fibre, fluids, topical treatments, and treating constipation. Procedures such as band ligation for haemorrhoids or surgery for complex fistula are considered when conservative care fails or when the diagnosis requires it. Your doctor will explain risks and benefits for your situation.
